Setting a live wallpaper
What is a live wallpaper?
A wallpaper that moves. These are the official Purrple Cat album animations as seamless MP4 loops: each file is the whole animation cycle, cut where it returns to its first frame, so it loops without a jump.
How do I set a live wallpaper on Windows?
Use a live wallpaper app that plays your own videos, like Lively Wallpaper (free) or Wallpaper Engine. Add the 1920×1080 MP4 as a video wallpaper.
Can I use one on a Mac?
macOS doesn’t take your own videos as a wallpaper by itself, so use a third-party live wallpaper app that accepts MP4 files, or set the 4K still instead.
How about Android and iPhone?
Many Android phones can set a video as the wallpaper or lock screen (Samsung Galaxy can in Wallpaper settings); otherwise use any video wallpaper app with the vertical MP4. iPhone can’t use an MP4 directly: convert it to a Live Photo with a converter app first, then set that Live Photo as your lock screen.
Free to use, two short rules
The wallpapers
Free for personal use on your phone, tablet and computer. Showing them in your videos and streams is fine with credit: “Art & music by Purrple Cat (purrplecat.com)”. Please don’t sell them, print them on merch, or re-host them as your own wallpaper pack. The art stays © Purrple Cat.
The music
Free to use with credit on all social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Facebook, X…), and livestreams are fine. Licence: CC BY 4.0.
